Listings represented by The Agency Steamboat Springs and the team’s market insight have appeared across national media this year, from Mansion Global and Robb Report to Travel + Leisure and the New York Post, along with national coverage of Steamboat itself. The homes behind those stories include an architectural estate 50 feet from the slopes and an off-grid wilderness retreat on 1,414 acres, where the yurts have heated hardwood floors and Wolf ranges.
Each placement starts with the same question our in-house marketing team asks of every listing: what is the story here, and who needs to hear it? The team handles strategy, writing, design, photography, video, digital distribution, and media placement. And when the story is told well, Steamboat reaches readers in the cities where both visitors and buyers live.
National coverage puts a Steamboat property in front of buyers in the markets that drive demand here. A significant share of our buyers come from major metropolitan areas across Colorado, Texas, California, Florida, Chicago, and the East Coast—all places with winter direct flights to Steamboat Springs.
Editorial coverage also reaches buyers before they start searching listings. A reader who meets a Marabou Ranch estate or a slopeside residence in Mansion Global arrives at the listing page already knowing the story of the home. The articles link back to the properties, adding another independent source that describes it.
For an independently owned office in a mountain town, consistent placement in national outlets is a point of pride. It's also a measure of how Steamboat is being talked about as a mountain destination. Each story shows readers a market with more range than they might expect, from hilltop homes to ranch estates.
Mansion Global recently featured 3005 Trails Edge, an architectural estate with seven bedrooms set 50 feet from the slopes, with six ensuites, an indoor-outdoor pool, theater, bunk room, and a rooftop observation deck. Slopeside homes have reset this market before: in 2025, The Agency Steamboat represented both buyer and seller in two record-setting ski-in/ski-out sales. 3005 Trails Edge is one of fewer than ten single-family slopeside estates, offering 11,000 square feet of living space and offered fully furnished. JustLuxe took readers inside 2408 Chutes Lane, a five-bedroom ski-in/ski-out residence at Steamboat Resort that developer Steve Rumsey built for his own family. Completed in 2024 and designed by Frank Becker of Becker Architecture, with interiors by Ashley Gibson of The Styled Life, the home opens through walls of glass to views stretching from the slopes across the South Valley to the Flat Tops. Radiant heat, snowmelt, central air, and an elevator serving all three levels make it as easy to live in full-time or for a ski week. Read in JustLuxe. View Listing →
Colorado Haven earned two stories in October. The 1,414-acre, off-grid wilderness retreat sits in the Elk Head Mountains about 20 miles from Yampa Valley Regional Airport, with three custom yurts, two log cabins, and an open-air pavilion with a commercial-grade kitchen, all running off-grid on solar power with battery storage. Mansion Global described it as a passion project 17 years in the making, and TopTenRealEstateDeals.com included it in its weekly roundup. Mansion Global. TopTenRealEstateDeals.com. View Listing →
Robb Report took an interest in what powers this home. Set on nearly eight acres along a ridge above the South Valley, the five-bedroom, 6,860-square-foot residence runs on geoexchange heating and cooling, solar panels, a wind turbine, a whole-house generator, and a deep well. The systems became the hook, and the views from the ridge carried the rest. Robb Report. View Listing →
When The Wall Street Journal looked at the rise of private après-ski bars in mountain homes, it came to Steamboat. The article featured 1872 Christie Drive alongside homes in Aspen, Snowmass, and Lake Tahoe. Built by Covington Builders at the base of the Steamboat Ski Area, the 7,305-square-foot, six-bedroom residence has a bar on the main level and another on the lower level, where a game room comes stocked with '80s arcade games. Developer Robert Covington told the Journal that ski-trip crowds need serious gathering space, and Chris Paoli described owners creating spaces "where the party keeps going." Wood, steel, and walls of glass frame views from the slopes across Emerald Mountain and the South Valley. Read in The Wall Street Journal · Q&A with the team behind the home.
Closer to home, Mile High CRE published a July piece on how MR Homes is adding new inventory during Steamboat's billion-dollar development cycle by reworking buildings that already stand. Its newest project, Powderline, converts a former Vectra Bank branch at 2155 Resort Drive into nine condominium residences in the short-term rental Green Zone, a few blocks from the ski area, with the original bank vaults integrated into the design. Jessica Stanford of The Agency Steamboat pointed to the Club Level, a private space for every owner, as a layout that "wouldn't have made sense in a typical new-build condo." The article also covered Basecamp Row, MR Homes' townhome project on the site of the former Steamboat Pilot & Today headquarters on the west side of town. Read in Mile High CRE. Explore Powderline. The press interest extends past individual homes to the market itself. In August, Mansion Global turned its attention to Steamboat with a story whose headline managed to fit Texans in fur coats and Brett Favre into the same sentence. Chris Paoli spoke with the publication about the market's growth, new development at the resort base, luxury real estate, and how Steamboat keeps its small-town feel through all of it. The New York Post picked up the thread in July with a story on why serious money is choosing Steamboat over Aspen and Vail. The article walked readers through the roughly $1 billion in development taking shape, from The Stockman, Auberge Collection at the base of the ski area to Discovery Land Company's proposed Stagecoach Mountain Ranch, and pointed them to listings including 1872 Christie Drive and Meadow House at Storm Mountain Ranch. Chris Paoli told The Post that buyers like Steamboat because "it's easy to disappear or just kind of blend in," and that most of the market's visitors arrive from big cities like New York, Houston, Boston, Dallas, and Chicago, bringing their design expectations with them. Travel + Leisure came at Steamboat from a different angle. For its guide to the best places to live in the Rocky Mountains, the magazine turned to Chris Paoli, and Steamboat made the list for pairing a major ski resort with the Western ranching culture that still shapes the community. The guide also noted that Steamboat's average home value runs well below Aspen's. Read in Travel + Leisure
Every listing we represent begins with positioning: defining the buyer profile, reading the competitive inventory, and finding the angle that sets the home apart. Media placement is one tool in that plan, and it sits with the same in-house team that writes, photographs, films, and distributes each listing, so the story stays consistent from the listing page to the press. Our agents stay focused on pricing strategy, client counsel, and negotiation. For some properties, broad exposure is the right call. For others, a quieter, controlled approach protects value, and we advise sellers on which fits their home. Learn how we market listings.
Read together, these stories sketch the range of Steamboat real estate: slopeside residences, an engineered hilltop home in the South Valley, and off-grid acreage within reach of the airport. New construction is part of that picture too, from recently completed ski-in/ski-out homes completed in 2024 to Chris's conversation with Redfin on weighing a new build against an existing home.
