Most people who discover Steamboat Springs come for the skiing. What keeps them is everything else the region has to offer. The valley in summer, the mild temperatures, the light across open ranchland, and the way the South Valley stretches out in every direction from higher ground. Catamount Ranch & Club captures this side of Steamboat perfectly. Six miles from downtown, minutes from the ski area, and set on more than 4,000 acres where the majority of the land will stay exactly as it is. It is also the only community in the Steamboat area with both a private championship golf course and a private alpine lake. That combination in a mountain resort market is uncommon.
The Catamount golf course was designed by Tom Weiskopf and plays 7,088 yards from the tips, par 72, with a slope rating of 132 and a course rating of 72.3. Golf Digest has ranked it among Colorado's Top 10 golf courses. The course sits at elevation, with views across the South Valley on most holes, and the playing season generally runs from late May through mid-October.
Golf membership at Catamount provides access to the 18-hole course and clubhouse, the Lake House with fitness center, pool, spa, and member dining, an Outfitter's Center with guided experiences across all seasons, tennis and pickleball courts, and private event facilities including the Heritage Cabin and Wilderness Hut.
The Lake enclave sits approximately ten miles south of the Ranch enclave and centers on Lake Catamount, a 530-acre private alpine lake open to residents for boating, paddling, kayaking, and fishing. More than 3,000 acres of the broader community are preserved as protected open space, with scenic trails for hiking, Nordic skiing, and wildlife viewing throughout.
Catamount Ranch & Club comprises two residential enclaves, Catamount Lake and Catamount Ranch, with estate parcels generally ranging from 6 to 8 acres or more. Homes here are custom-built, each positioned to maximize privacy and views. The community's scale, protected land, and limited residential inventory give it a character that resort-adjacent neighborhoods with denser development simply cannot replicate.
Residents have access to the on-site restaurant Periodic Table, and the Yampa Valley Regional Airport, which ranks second only to Jackson Hole for commercial air service in the Mountain West, is a short drive away, a meaningful access advantage for buyers coming from Texas, Florida, and beyond.
Within Catamount Ranch & Club, The Agency Steamboat Springs currently represents the only two golf estates available in this community. As featured recently in PaperCity, they were conceived by different architects, drawn from different design traditions, and sit above different fairways. They share the same private community, the same valley views, and the same proximity to the course.
The Covered Bridge Estate was designed by architect Joe Patrick Robbins and constructed over three years on seven private acres overlooking the 7th fairway. At 11,492 square feet with six bedrooms, 13 baths, and five fireplaces, the home takes its name from its covered-bridge entry, an architectural moment that sets the tone for everything inside. Construction involved 400 tons of natural stone and hand-carved timber, with oak, pecan, and pine flooring throughout.
The main level is organized for daily living, with the primary suite, office, kitchen, dining, and living areas all on one floor. The ground-floor entertaining level includes a 10-seat home theater, wine cellar, game room, fitness studio, and full wellness spa with steam shower, sauna, and cold plunge. Multiple terraces, landscaped gardens, a snowmelt driveway, and a four-car garage complete the property. Offered fully furnished at $9,950,000. Seller financing available. Bitcoin accepted. The Acanthus Estate was designed by architect Bill Rangitsch and sits on 9.07 acres above the 10th fairway. At 10,746 square feet with seven bedrooms, 10 baths, and 2,925 square feet of outdoor living space across multiple decks, patios, and a fire pit, the home is organized around an intricate timber-truss ceiling, floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, and two-story windows framing views of the South Valley, Steamboat Ski Area, Flat Top Mountains, and Walton Creek Canyon.
A self-contained two-bedroom, two-bath apartment on the upper level provides complete independence for guests or extended family. Designer furnishings by B. Pila of Miami are included. Offered fully furnished at $12,990,000.
These are the only two completed golf estates currently available within Catamount Ranch & Club. Residential inventory here is limited by design: the community's planned boundaries and large parcel sizes mean opportunities to buy, particularly at the estate level, are infrequent.
