The trails on Mt. Werner are a vibrant green, the Steamboat Resort gondolas are running, and the bike park is open, and on a clear July afternoon, the views from the top rival the snow-covered peaks of winter.
Steamboat Resort's summer season offers a wealth of adventure and recreation. Ride the Wild Blue or Steamboat Gondola for sweeping views, then take them at speed on the bike park's network of trails, from beginner flow tracks to expert lines. Hike from the base to the top of Thunderhead, catch a Thursday Sunset Happy Hour, cool off at Burgess Creek Beach, or drop the kids at Mountain Camp while you explore the mountain on your own time. The season runs daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there's endless nature to explore. Also at the base all summer long are free summer concerts, outdoor movie nights, shopping, and dining.
For owners with property at or near the mountain, none of this requires a car, a reservation, or a plan made weeks in advance. Here is a look at what’s available now within steps of the action, and the properties that offer walk-to-ski or ski-in/ski-out living when winter arrives.
